Will my landlord accept my ESA letter?

If your ESA letter is written by a licensed practitioner and issued within the past 12 months, most landlords are required to accept it under the Fair Housing Act. This protection allows you to live with your ESA even in “no pet” housing and bypasses pet rent, breed caps, and weight limits.

Support Pets allows you to request an ESA letter through a secure online process. Your letter will include the provider’s license number, issue date, and confirmation that your animal supports a documented emotional need. Support Pets only provides ESA letters for dogs and cats.
